Pivoted out of investment banking following 9/11 and immediately got into building out inside sales teams for brands such as EarthLink, Hello, Cbeyond, Turner Broadcasting (CNN, TBS, TNT, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim), iHeartMedia and more. After 15 years in Retail and Media business development Donovan can boast over $1B in organic revenue. The inside sales shops he's built remain in tact today, engines continuously producing stable revenue venture firms salivate over. So much so the VC world came and hired Jim Donovan to consult for various SaaS firms for the past five years. Now he's continued to take on projects and assignment-based contracts solely focused on generating revenue through inside sales tactics.
Relentless focus on 3 P's: People, Product and Process. In conjunction with a background in Lean Six Sigma focusing on eliminating waste, Donovan focuses first on the team, the people. Looking at the structures, the dynamics, the health of the org. From there he assesses the product the team is moving. Is it a software widget, a hardware that ships or a service that is intangible? How will we handle objections, what's our pitch, all of this is the Product stage. Lastly we look at the steps we are taking as people to move that product. Are they efficient? Are they adding value? Where can we eliminate ego-based processes to lean into speed with quality. This is the process stage, all receive equal attention.
